The couple filed for divorce through mutual consent on June 4, 2014. Their divorce was finalised on March 31, 2016.
She had a troubled married life with Sunjay Kapur. Karishma revealed that the torture from Sunjay began as soon as she got married to him and Sunjay had actually tried auctioning her on their honeymoon and tried forcing her to sleep with his friends. However, when Karishma refused, she was beaten up by Sunjay. She also alleged that Sunjay was actually still in a physical relationship with his first wife and when Karishma tried to confront him regarding the same, he assaulted her in return.
