Kajol Devgan is an Indian film actress. She is considered as one of the most successful actresses in hindi cinema. Kajol won the Filmfare Award for 6 times (5 times for Best Actress and 1 time for Best Performance in a Negative Role).
Kajol was born on August 5, 1974 to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja Samarth in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She has a younger sister, Tanishaa Mukerji who is also an actress.
She did her schooling at a boarding school, St. Joseph's Convent School, Panchgani.
Kajol made her acting debut at the age of 17 with Bekhudi (1992) opposite Kamal Sadanah, while still in school. The film was a box-office failure but her performance was appreciated.
In the following year, she had her first commercial success with Abbas-Mustan's Baazigar (1993), opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
She holds a joint record with her aunt and yesteryear actress Nutan for winning the Best Actress Filmfare Awards for record 5 times.
In 2011, she was honoured with prestigious Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) is her biggest hit and it holds the record of reaching 1000+ consecutive weeks screening in a single cinema at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai.
