Kajol Devgan is an Indian film actress. She is considered as one of the most successful actresses in hindi cinema. Kajol won the Filmfare Award for 6 times (5 times for Best Actress and 1 time for Best Performance in a Negative Role).
Kajol was born on August 5, 1974 to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja Samarth in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She has a younger sister, Tanishaa Mukerji who is also an actress.
She did her schooling at a boarding school, St. Joseph's Convent School, Panchgani.
Kajol made her acting debut at the age of 17 with Bekhudi (1992) opposite Kamal Sadanah, while still in school. The film was a box-office failure but her performance was appreciated.
In the following year, she had her first commercial success with Abbas-Mustan's Baazigar (1993), opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
She holds a joint record with her aunt and yesteryear actress Nutan for winning the Best Actress Filmfare Awards for record 5 times.
In 2011, she was honoured with prestigious Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.
Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan featured in several blockbusters, which includes Baazigar (1993), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Karan Arjun (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).
She met Ajay Devgan for the first time on the sets of the film Gundaraj (1995). They didn't liked each other initially but eventually fell in love with each other.
Kajol got married to Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. Daughter Nysa Devgan was born on April 20, 2003 and son Yug Devgan was born on September 13, 2010.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) is her biggest hit and it holds the record of reaching 1000+ consecutive weeks screening in a single cinema at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai.
