Facts
Kamal Sadanah is an Indian actor, director and producer. He was born on 21st October 1970 to producer and director Brij Sadanah and actress Sayeeda Khan. Kamal also had a younger sister named Namrata Sadanah.
His father was Hindu and his mother was a Muslim.
His mother, Sayeeda Khan converted to hinduism after marriage and took the name Sudha Sadanah.
Actresses Jyothika & Nagma Sadanah are his cousins as Kamal's father Brij Sadanah and Jyothika's father and Nagma's step-father Chander Sadanah were brothers.
Writer and Director Shagufta Rafique known for Awarapan (2007), Raaz – The Mystery Continues (2009), Murder 2 (2011), Jannat 2 (2012) and Raaz 3D (2012) is his mother's adopted sister. Shagufta Rafique was adopted by Kamal's maternal grandmother and yesteryear actress Anwari Begum and her second husband Mohammed Rafique. Actress Vineeta Goel known for Janam Janam (1988), Zahreelay (1990) and Hum Hai Raahi CAR Ke (2013) is his cousin as Vineeta's mother Rajkumari Sadanah Goel is Brij Sadanah's sister. Vineeta was married to Vikram Razdan and has a daughter, Riva Razdan and a son, Rayan Razdan with him.
On his 20th birthday on 21st October 1990, a quarrel broke out between their parents and Brij shot everyone in the house in a drunken state including Kamal, Namrata and Sayeeda & then Brij committed suicide using the same gun. Only Kamal Sadanah, who was shot in the back of his neck survived this tragic incident. According to some reports, the main reason of the quarrel between his parents was Namrata's relationship with Abis Hasan Rizvi, who was a muslim and Brij, who was already in a stress due to his failing projects and monetary losses didn't wanted her daughter to get married with a man from a different religion. It is the same Abis Hasan Rizvi, who later produced Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014), He-man (2016) and T for Taj Mahal (2017). Abis Hasan Rizvi was tragically shot dead in a terrorist attack in the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on 1st January 2017 in which 39 people were killed.
He did a course in film-making and a specialised course in Visual Effects at the New York Film Academy.
Kamal Sadanah made his acting debut in Rahul Rawail's Bekhudi (1992) alongside another debutante Kajol. The movie was a box-office failure. Initially, Saif Ali Khan was all set to make his debut with 'Bekhudi' and had even completed the first shooting schedule but Rahul Rawail replaced him with Kamal due to his unprofessionalism.
He tasted success with his second movie Rang (1993) also starring late Divya Bharti, Ayesha Jhulka, Jeetendra and Amrita Singh. The songs "Tumhein Dekhen Meri Aankhein", "Teri Mohabbat Ne", "Tujhe Na Dekhoon" and "Dil Cheer Ke Dekh" composed by Nadeem–Shravan for this film are popular even today. The film was released three months after the death of Divya Bharti and it took bumper opening as this film was prompoted as Divya Bharti's last film and people wanted to see her for the last time.

After that, he starred in a string of flop movies like Fauj (1994), Baali Umar Ko Salaam (1994), Jai Maa Vaishnav Devi (1995), Hum Sab Chor Hain (1995), Rock Dancer (1995), Hum Hain Premi (1996), Angaara (1996), Nirnayak (1997), Mohabbat Aur Jung (1998), Jaalsaaz (1999) and Kaali Topi Laal Rumaal (2000).
Kamal Sadanah got married to make-up artist Lisa John on 1st January 2001. They have two children together, a son Angath Sadanah and a daughter, Leia Namrata, who was named after Kamal's late sister. His production company 'Angath Arts Private Limited' is named after his son. The couple has separated now and now Lisa lives in Goa with her parents and Kamal is staying in Mumbai. They officially filed for the divorce in 2021. Speaking about the divorce, Kamal said,
