Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian film actor and host who is regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. He was born on October 11, 1942 to celebrated hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan & his wife, the social activist Teji Bachchan in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He also has a brother named Ajitabh Bachchan. | |
Initially his parents wanted to name him Inquilaab, inspired by the phrase "Inquilab Zindabad" which was popularly used during the Indian independence movement. The name Amitabh was suggested to his father by poet Sumitranandan Pant. | |
His real surname was Shrivastava but his father, who opposed the caste system and had adopted the pen name Bachchan under which he had published all his works. | |
He did his schooling from Boy's High School & College in Allahabad and Sherwood College in Nainital and later graduated from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. | |
