Abram Khan is the youngest son of actor Shah Rukh Khan and interior designer Gauri Khan. He is 10 years old and is currently studying at Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Abram was born on 27 May 2013 through surrogacy at Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle, Mumbai. He was born prematurely in the 34th week of pregnancy, weighing only 1.5 kg at the time of birth, so he was shifted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for special care and spent a substantial amount of time there. Meanwhile, the Khans faced a backlash after some reports wrongly suggested that they had undergone a sex determination test. On 9th July 2013, Shah Rukh Khan issued a press statement to formally announce the birth of his youngest son. The actor also expressed gratitude to Dr. Jatin Shah of Mumbai Fertility Clinic and IVF Centre and his staff for their assistance. 1
When asked about the meaning of ‘AbRam’, Shah Rukh Khan revealed, “AbRam is a Jewish connotation of Hazrat Ibrahim, so I think it is a good mix. … It sounds very nice with the name of Hindu god Ram in it.” 2
Abram Khan was seen in the closing credits of Shah Rukh Khan’s 2014 film ‘Happy New Year’ directed by Farah Khan.
In 2018, Amitabh Bachchan revealed that Abram used to think he was Shah Rukh Khan’s father. Big B wrote on his Instagram post, “and this be little Abram, ShahRukh’s little one .. who thinks , believes and is convinced beyond any doubt, that I am his Fathers FATHER .. and wonders why Shahrukh’s father does not stay with him !!!” 3
He loves to join his father, Shah Rukh Khan, whenever he makes an appearance on the podium at Mannat to greet the fans who wait outside their home on Shah Rukh’s birthday. 4
