| Initially his parents were slightly skeptical about cricket but after Darshan was selected in Vidarbha Cricket Association’s (VCA) Residential Academy their doubts vanished. Darshan benefited a lot from his time at VCA’s Residential Academy as there were special coaches for everything and they also used to look after his diet, fitness and training. | |
| Darshan Nalkande made his List A debut for Vidarbha against Maharashtra on 2 October 2018 during the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In his debut match, he left a remarkable impression. Nalkande bowled with great precision and claimed two crucial wickets, conceding just 26 runs in his seven-over spell, and helped Vidarbha limit Maharashtra to a total of just 205 runs. Later, when he came out to bat at no.9, Vidarbha was struggling at 123 for 7, still requiring 83 runs to secure the victory. However, Nalkande played an outstanding inning, remaining unbeaten at 53 runs off just 30 balls, striking five sixes and one four.
