His adopted sister, Arpita Khan, is married to actor Aayush Sharma. The couple has a son named Ahil Sharma and a daughter named Ayat Sharma.
Khan studied at The Scindia School, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
He made his acting debut in a villainous role of a possessive and abusive husband in Abbas-Mustan’s 1996 film ‘Daraar’ co-starring Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor. The film was a success and he won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for his performance. 1
He starred alongside his brother Salman Khan, Kajol, Dharmendra, and Anjala Zaveri in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998), written and directed by Sohail Khan. The film was a commercial success at the box office and earned him a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Arbaaz met Malaika for the first time during the shooting of a commercial for the coffee brand, Mr. Coffee. Despite the ad being banned for its perceived sensuous content, love blossomed between the two, leading them to start dating.

The couple tied the knot on 12 December 1998 after dating for around five years. Since Malaika is Christian and Arbaaz is Muslim, the couple first got married as per Christian rituals, followed by a nikaah ceremony in the evening. Their son, Arhaan Khan, was born on 9 November 2002. 2

His first film as producer was Dabangg (2010) starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in leading roles. Arbaaz played the role of Chulbul Pandey’s younger brother Makkhanchand “Makkhi” Pandey, while his then wife Malaika Arora appeared in the item song “Munni Badnaam Hui”. The film directed by Abhinav Kashyap emerged as a blockbuster and earned over ₹220 crore at the box-office. 4
After Abhinav Kashyap opted out of the Dabangg sequel, Arbaaz Khan took on the role of director himself. ‘Dabangg 2’ was released in theaters on 21 December 2012 and replicated the success of its predecessor, grossing over ₹250 crore at the box office. 5
In July 2013, a Land Cruiser belonging to Arbaaz Khan ran over 70-year-old homeless woman who was sleeping on the pavement, resulting in her immediate death. The vehicle was being driven by Sohail Khan’s driver, Dhananjay Pimpale, and neither Arbaaz nor his younger brother Sohail were present in the car during the incident. The woman’s family sought compensation from the actor. However, the Khan family refused to pay any compensation upon learning that the elderly woman had been disowned by her own family. 6
