Fahad Samar was born on August 15, 1968, into a Muslim family in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
He completed his schooling at Bombay International School in Mumbai and graduated with a degree in English Literature from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. 1
Samar began his filmmaking career in 1987 with Merchant-Ivory Productions, where he worked on Oscar-winning films such as Howards End (1992) and The Remains of the Day (1993).
In 1993, he founded his own production company, Bombay Talkie, through which he has written, directed, and produced numerous television commercials, documentaries, and TV shows. 1
He directed popular countdown shows like BPL Oye! for Channel V, Superhit Muqabla for DD Metro, and Coca-Cola Poppadum Show for Sony TV. 1
He also produced and co-directed the telefilm Jannat Talkies, starring Milind Soman, Bhakti Barve, and Sohrab Ardeshir in lead roles. The critically acclaimed telefilm was a remake of the Italian cult film Cinema Paradiso (1988) and was aired on Doordarshan.
Fahad Samar married actress Simone Singh on March 24, 2000. They live in a 2,500 sq ft terrace apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The couple does not have any children. 2 3

Fahad made his acting debut as Viju Patel in the Amazon Prime Video series Four More Shots Please (2019-2020), where he appeared alongside his wife, Simone Singh. 8
In 2023, he played the role of Mr. Ahuja in the Yash Raj Films production The Great Indian Family, starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar.
