Radhika Apte is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi films and has also been a part of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, English, Marathi, and Bengali films. Her notable performances in Hindi cinema include films like Badlapur (2015), Phobia (2016), Pad Man (2018), and Andhadhun (2018) among others. Apart from films, Radhika has also made a mark in the digital space, with acclaimed performances in web series like Sacred Games (2018) and Ghoul (2018).
Radhika was born on 7 September 1985 into a family of doctors to Dr. Charudutt Apte and Dr. Jayashree Apte in Vellore, Tamil Nadu but brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. She also has a younger brother named Ketan Apte. 1
Her father, Dr. Charudutt Apte is a neurosurgeon and the Chairman of Sahyadri Hospitals Ltd. and her mother, Dr. Jayashree Apte is the Director of Sahyadri Hospitals Ltd.
Initially, she studied in a regular school but later on, she was home-schooled by her parents and grandmother, Madhumalati Apte, who was a mathematician and a Ph.D. from France. Mathematics was Radhika's favorite subject. Along with schooling, she learned Kathak for eight years from Rohini Bhate.
After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Mathematics from Fergusson College in Pune, she pursued a Diploma in Dance Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. 1
Before venturing into films, Radhika Apte started out in theatre, working with Mohit Takalkar's theatre troupe Aasakta Kalamanch in her hometown, and has acted in plays like Marathi plays like Tu, Purnaviram, Matra Yatra, Amol Palekar's Samaantar, Kanyadaan with Lilette Dubey and Samuel Beckett's That Time with Rehan Engineer. 2
She made her film debut while still in college with a small, supporting role in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! (2005) starring Shahid Kapoor & Amrita Rao.
Actor Rahul Bose saw her perform in Anahita Oberoi's play Bombay Black and was impressed with her acting skills. On his recommendation, she was cast in the National Award-winning Bengali film Antaheen (2009) directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. 3
In 2009, Radhika Apte made her Marathi film debut with 'Gho mala asala hawa'.
In 2010, Radhika Apte played the role of Vivek Oberoi's wife Nandini in Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra and its sequel.
There were reports that Radhika Apte and Tusshar Kapoor got romantically involved while working together in Shor in the City (2011). However, she revealed in October 2022 that the people handling the promotion of the movie spread the link-up rumors about her and Tusshar and clarified that she never dated him. 4

Radhika met London-based musician Benedict Taylor in 2011 in London where she was doing a Diploma in Dance Studies from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. They started living together and finally got married in March 2013.
In an interview with film journalist Rajeev Masand in March 2015, she spoke against the patriarchal nature of the Telugu film industry and told that actresses are not treated well in the Telugu film industry. 2
In April 2015, a video clip showing Radhika Apte lifting her clothes in front of the camera went viral. The video clip was part of Anurag Kashyap directed segment, 'Clean Shaven' in the English-language international anthology film Madly (2016). Anurag Kashyap rushed to the cyber crime cell of Mumbai police and filed a complaint about it. Later, Radhika Apte received the Tribeca Film Festival's Best Actress award for her performance in the movie.2

On 9 October 2018, she decided to donate her organs after her death at Rotary International and Sahyadri Hospitals, Pune.
