Chopra received a master’s degree in communication and multimedia from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU), Saginaw, Michigan, United States in 2003. 1
She made her acting debut in the 2005 Tamil film ‘Anbe Aaruyire’ opposite S. J. Surya. Meera was credited as Nila in her debut film.
In 2006, Meera Chopra starred opposite Pawan Kalyan in the Telugu-language action film ‘Bangaram,’ directed by Dharani. 2
Meera Chopra was in a relationship with stockbroker Sumit Bhuttan, who was already married to Ruchi Bhuttan and had a five-year-old son. Sumit was planning to divorce his wife so that he could marry Meera. On 5 July 2011, Ruchi Bhuttan committed suicide by hanging at her DLF Phase-II residence in Gurgaon. Subsequently, Sumit Bhuttan, Meera Chopra, and Sumit’s family members were booked under several sections of the IPC. However, later, Meera and Sumit’s family members were given a clean chit by the police. A Gurgaon session court acquitted Sumit Bhuttan on 16 September 2013. 3
In a 2013 interview with Zoom TV, Parineeti Chopra refused to acknowledge Meera Chopra as her cousin.
Meera Chopra made her Bollywood debut in the 2014 horror-comedy film ‘Gang of Ghosts,’ starring alongside Sharman Joshi, Parambrata Chatterjee, Chunky Pandey, Anupam Kher, and Mahie Gill. Directed by Satish Kaushik, ‘Gang of Ghosts’ is the Hindi remake of the Bengali film ‘Bhooter Bhabishyat’. 4

She said, “From the start, there was not much closeness between us that we would look like friends here. That would be fake. But I can say that when three or four girls join the industry, they help each other. That did not happen to me. I never asked for help, and the help never came from them. I am not the one that asks for help and even they never offered any help.7
