In the 2022 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election, Anirudhsinh Jadeja and his daughter Naynaba Jadeja campaigned for Congress candidate Bipendrasinh Jadeja, who stood against Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja, in the Jamnagar North constituency. | In an explosive interview with Divya Bhaskar in February 2024, Anirudhsinh Jadeja opened up about the strained ties with his son Ravindra Jadeja, attributing much of the tension to Ravindra’s wife, Rivaba. Anirudhsinh lamented: “I currently reside alone in Jamnagar, while Ravindra lives in his own separate bungalow in the same city. Despite living in close proximity, I seldom get to see him. I’m unsure of the influence his wife has over him.“ The rift reportedly began when Rivaba sought to consolidate family assets in her name shortly after their marriage: “Within just three months of their wedding, she insisted that all assets be transferred to her name, creating tensions within our family. She seemed determined to sever ties and pursue an independent life. While I acknowledge the possibility of misunderstanding, it’s perplexing that all 50 members of our family share similar sentiments.“ Anirudhsinh disclosed the current state of their relationship: “To be honest, I have absolutely no relationship with Ravindra and his wife, Rivaba. Neither do we call them, nor do they call us.“ Detailing his modest lifestyle, Anirudhsinh shared: “I own a small piece of land in my village and sustain myself with my wife’s modest pension of ₹20,000. I lead a solitary life in a modest 2BHK apartment. A house-help cooks for me. Even in my 2BHK flat, I’ve reserved a room for Ravindra.“ Reflecting on the sacrifices made to nurture Ravindra’s cricketing career, Anirudhsinh expressed: “We put in immense effort to shape Ravindra’s cricketing career. I undertook menial jobs like carrying 20-liter milk cans and working as a watchman to support our family. We hail from a very humble background. His sister took care of him like a mother. Unfortunately, he has distanced himself from her as well.“ Anirudhsinh refuted the reports of Rivaba’s parents gifting an Audi car to Ravindra as a wedding gift, asserting that it was purchased using the cricketer’s money. “The reports of Ravindra’s in-laws running a thriving business are false. The Audi car was ordered by Ravindra himself, and the payment was made in our name. If they had a business, his mother-in-law wouldn’t be working. Their family used to live in railway quarters. Recently, they bought a ₹2 crore bungalow using Ravindra’s money,” he added. Anirudhsinh concluded with the emotional toll of the estrangement: “I don’t reach out to Ravindra, and I don’t feel the need to. He is my son, I am not his son. The onus lies on him to bridge the divide. It’s a heartbreaking situation, one that leaves his sister in tears even on Rakshabandhan.“ Ravindra Jadeja hit back at his father by posting a note written in Gujarati on social media and requested him not to tarnish the image of his wife.
“The statements made in the contentious interview with Divya Bhaskar are baseless and untrue. I completely refute them as they represent a biased perspective.
