Ali revealed on “Lock Upp: Badass Jail Atyaachaari Khel” that Anam comes from a very orthodox family and she had issues with his DJ career which eventually led to their separation. Ali said, “I got into an arranged marriage in 2016. In December 2021, we got separated. The girl I got into an arranged marriage with, belonged to an orthodox family. I began DJ-ing in 2015. A career in nightlife, and extreme exposure in concerts – it is a very difficult industry for a Muslim to be in. When I got married, I was getting a few shows. I wasn’t getting acting projects. I had a few small businesses. She never wanted me to be in the nightlife. She wanted me to be an actor or a businessman. She didn’t want me to be a DJ. As time passed, in a few years my DJ-ing life took off to a nice level. I could survive because of the industry and provide for my family. I was getting a lot of offers to perform in concerts – in bigger arenas. I would ask her ‘Why can’t you be proud of me?’ She wasn’t too happy. Our philosophies didn’t match. Our families suggested we have a kid and things might resolve. But it was a mutual and mature decision. We didn’t take the family way.” 1 | |
