He was born on 27 September 1983 into a Punjabi Hindu family in Binnaguri, West Bengal, India. His father served in the Indian army and given his father had a transferable job, he has lived in Saharanpur, Firozpur, Dalhousie, Bikaner, Gurgaon, and Delhi. 1
He did his schooling at Army Public School, Noida, and later graduated with a degree in commerce from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. 2
Kochhar received his diploma in acting from the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi in 2009. 2
He owns a theatre group named Laboni Performing Arts. 3
