Jugal Hansraj is an Indian actor, director & author. He is best known for Masoom (1983), Ghar Se Nikalte Hi and Mohabbatien (2000). He was born on July 26, 1972 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father is cricketer Pravin Hansraj and he also has an elder brother named Sunil Hansraj.
Actor Chetan Hansraj is his cousin.
Jugal started his acting career as a child actor in 1983 by playing the role of Rahul Malhotra in the film Masoom. Masoom was based on Man, Woman and Child, a novel by Erich Segal.
He continued his career as a child actor in movies like Jhutha Sach (1984), Sultanat (1986), Karma (1986), Loha (1987) and Hukumat (1987).
He made his acting debut as an adult in Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1994) alongside Urmila Matondkar. His second movie was Papa Kehte Hai (1996) opposite Mayuri Kango.
The title tune of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) was composed by Jugal Hansraj and this tune became Dharma Productions theme title music. This was confirmed by Karan Johar in his autobiography 'An Unsuitable Boy'.
In 2000, he starred in Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein, which also featured Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
He turned writer-director with animation movie Roadside Romeo (2008). The movie was jointly produced by Yash Raj Films and Walt Disney Studios and it featured the voices of Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Javed Jaffrey. The film won the National Film Award for Best Animated Film.
His second film as a director was Pyaar Impossible (2010) starring Priyanka Chopra and Uday Chopra.
In September 2014, he joined Dharma Productions as the head of Creative Development.
In December 2017, he became a author with his first novel for children titled "Cross Connection: The Big Circus Adventure". The book was published by Rupa publications India. His second book "The Coward and The Sword" was published by Harper Collins India in 2021.
Jugal Hansraj got married to Jasmine Dhillon, an NRI investment banker from New York in a private ceremony in Michigan on July 5, 2014 and the couple has a son, Sidak Hansraj.
