Ashwini Kalsekar is an indian film and television actress best known for playing the role of Jigyasa Walia in Kasamh Se (2006-09) & Maham Anga in Jodha Akbar (2013-14).
She was born on January 22, 1970 in a marathi family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father Anil Kalsekar was a bank employee.
After completing her studies, she joined theatre and learned acting under Neena Gupta and Muzammeel Vakil.
She made her acting debut in the television show Shanti (1995-97) in which she played the role of Shasha. Ashwini got her first lead role on television in Mr. Gaayab (1999).
In 1996, she worked in the marathi film "Tula Jhapar La".
In 2001, she played the role of Shalaka Black Cat in Shaktimaan.
Ashwini rose to fame after playing the role of Jigyasa Walia in the tv show Kasamh Se (2006-09). She got critically acclaimed for her performance and won the award for Best Actress in Negative Role at Indian Telly Awards in 2006 & Best Actress in Negative Role at Indian Television Academy Awards in 2007.
She played the role of Maham Anga, foster mother of Emperor Akbar in Jodha Akbar (2013-14) for which she went on to win the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role.
Her first hindi movie was The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003). After that she worked in movies like Khakee (2004), Johnny Gaddar (2007), Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham Returns (2014), Golmaal Again (2017), Andhadhun (2018), Simmba (2018), Laxmii (2020) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022).
Ashwini Kalsekar got married to actor Nitesh Pandey in 1998 but they got divorced in 2002. She has been married to actor Murli Sharma since 2009.
She is a trained Kathak dancer.
