Ashwini Kalsekar is an Indian film and television actress best known for playing the role of Jigyasa Walia in Kasamh Se (2006-09) & Maham Anga in Jodha Akbar (2013-14). She has a husky and tough voice.

She was born on 22 January 1970 into a conservative Maharashtrian Brahmin family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father, Anil Kalsekar was a bank employee.
Ashwini has a brother named Abhijit Kalsekar, who is settled in London, UK with his wife and daughter. Her sister-in-law's name is also Ashwini Kalsekar (maiden name: Ashwini Nadgauda), she is a celebrated Kathak artist, choreographer & dance teacher and runs a Kathak Dance Institute "Kirti Kala Mandir" in London. 1
After completing her graduation in Arts from Mumbai in 1991, she joined theatre and learned acting under actress Neena Gupta and Muzammeel Vakil, a theatre acting coach. She is also a trained Kathak dancer. 2
Before becoming an actress, she worked as an Air Hostess in an airline. She accompanied a friend for her audition, one guy came and asked if she was interested in acting, to which she replied 'Yeah okay, why not'. He then asked her to come for an audition, and she got chosen soon after for her first TV show "Shanti" in which she played the role of Shasha. Initially, she shot only on Fridays as it was her weekly off, and later resigned from her cabin crew job. 3
In 1996, she was seen in a small role of a tough prostitute in the Marathi film "Tula Jhapar La".
Ashwini Kalsekar got married to actor Nitesh Pandey in 1998 but their marriage lasted for only four years and they got divorced in 2002. 4
She played the role of Inspector Asha in one of India's most iconic TV show "CID" from 1998 to 2004.

Real-life actor couple Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar were seen as an on-screen couple for the first time in director Puri Jagannadh's Telugu film Mehbooba (2018). They played the role of Pakistani parents of the film's lead actress Neha Shetty in the movie. 9
