He was born on 7 February 1997 into a humble family of farmers to Ramswarup Jat and his wife Naangi Devi in Nayabas village in Rajgarh Tehsil of Churu district in Rajasthan, India. 3 4
He grew up assisting his parents in their modest farms before following his elder brothers to join the Indian army in 2017. It was during his service in the army that he was introduced to the sport of rowing by Olympian rower Bajrang Lal Takhar. 5

The Indian pair finished second with a timing of 6:28.18s, trailing behind China’s Junjie Fan and Man Sun, who clinched the gold with a timing of 6:23.16s. The Uzbekistan pair of Shakhzod Nurmatov and Sobirjon Safaroliyev clinched the bronze with a timing of 6:33.42s. 8
