Gitindranath Tagore was the father of famous actress Sharmila Tagore. He was born in a aristocratic Bengali Hindu Tagore family to Kanakendranath Tagore and his wife Suramasundari Devi.
He had 9 siblings: Kobindra Tagore, Bhechku Tagore, Gouri Tagore, Anubha Tagore, Shima Tagore, Shukla Tagore & Karabi Tagore. 1

Second daughter, Oindrila Tagore aka Tinku Tagore was the first member from the tagore family to act in a film. She played the role of 'Mini' in Tapan Sinha's movie Kabuliwala (1957). This was her only movie and she later became an international bridge player and won several national level trophies. Oindrila got married to Dilip Kundu and the couple had a son, Mickey Kundu.
Third daughter, Romila Tagore aka Chinky Tagore married Nikhil Sen, a businessman who served as chief operating officer (COO) of Britannia Industries for several years and later founded Unibic Foods. He died in November 2019. Nikhil Sen was the brother of supermodel of the 80s, Nandini Sen. 4
