Abhimanyu Dassani is an Indian actor. He was born on February 21, 1990 to Himalay Dassani and Bhagyashree in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He also has a younger sister Avantika Dassani.
He completed his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and after graduating with a degree in finance from Mithibai College in Mumbai, he enrolled himself in New York Film Academy to pursue a course in acting. Subsequently, he learnt acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in California.
He began his career as an assistant to director Rohan Sippy on Dum Maaro Dum (2011) and Nautanki Saala! (2013).
Abhimanyu made his acting debut in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) in the role of a young boy named Surya who suffers from Congenital Insensitivity, a rare condition that makes him feel no physical pain. The film received positive reviews from critics and Abhimanyu won Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) won the People's Choice Award at the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
He trained in martial arts for nine hours every day for nine months for his bollywood debut.
His second movie, Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021) opposite Sanya Malhotra was released on Netflix on 5 November 2021 and it received mixed review from critics and audiences. It was also criticized for stereotypical representation of Tamil people.
His third movie, Nikamma (2022) alongside Shilpa Shetty and Shirley Setia will be released in theatres on 17th June 2022.
He will be next seen in Aankh Micholi opposite Mrunal Thakur.
