During his school days, Arshad Warsi was a gymnast and was also selected for an international gymnastic event. But his father prevented him from representing the country in gymnastics because he thought it was foolish to pursue a career in gymnastics as it was not lucrative enough. 2
He lost his parents and became an orphan at a very young age. Financial circumstances forced Warsi to work as a door-to-door cosmetics salesman.
Arshad had interest in dance so he joined a dance school. He went on to win 4th prize in the 1992 World Dance championship, London at the age of 21. After that he started his own dance studio, "Awesome" with the prize money and also formed a dance troupe. He also joined English Theatre group in Mumbai.
Real name of his father was Ahmed Ali Khan. He used the name Ashiq Hussain Warsi for his music career.
His father was an harmonium player and he worked as an assistant music director to the famous music composer Ghulam Haider.
Ranjana Sachdev changed her name to Raziyah after marrying his father Ashiq Hussain Warsi.
His father and step-mother Ranjana Sachdev divorced in the easrly 60's.
After divorce Ranjana married a lawyer with surname Sachdev. Asha Sachdev uses her mother's new surname "Sachdev". While, Anwar uses his father's surname.
Arshad Warsi's father became a follower of holy man "Waris Pak" and changed his surname to Warsi.
His father died from bone cancer in 1987.
Son Zeke Warsi was born on 10 August 2004 and daughter Zene Zoe Warsi was born on 2 May 2007.
He choreographed the title track for the movie Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993).
Worked as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt in Kaash (1987).
He did his schooling from a boarding school, Barnes School, in Deolali, Nashik district, Maharashtra.
